Internet: Microsoft Gets Its Act Together With IE 7.0

Finally, maybe developers can stop complaining about Internet Explorer's lack of support for accepted standards. Rumors are flying that the next version of IE will address these long-held concerns. Mozilla's Firefox may be the hot browser right now, simply because Microsoft has been biding its time. But just as Internet Explorer stole the show from Netscape five years ago, the same will likely occur with the release of Internet Explorer 7. IE 6 is sorely in need of repair, and the quick gains in market share by Firefox and other alternative browsers were probably just the kick in the pants that Microsoft needed to get its act together. So IE lost a few percentage points of market share -- down to just under 90%, according to the latest figures. Big deal. MS has had the benefit of learning from Firefox and incorporating its features. Sometimes being second to market is best, especially when you have an enormous advantage over the competition in the first place. That said, it is always going to be safer to use a browser that isn't being used by 90 percent of the Internet population. ...

Che ruolo ha oggigiorno la domenica? Io le domeniche di tanti anni fa me le ricordo e devo dire che me le ricordo diverse. Sarà pure una cosa soggettiva ma io vedo un movimento ed una frenesia domenicale simile a quella di un giorno infrasettimanale... si forse si è frenetici per cose diverse dal lavoro, magari si è in viaggio dopo il week-end fuori, oppure si è andati a trovare i parenti lontani...però manca quel senso di quiete che mi ricordo faceva parte delle domeniche di tanti anni fa. Adesso solitamente alla domenica si è su un treno pronti a raggiungere il luogo di lavoro, ne vedo tanti sui treni, tante facce stanche, tante persone rassegnate, pochi sorrisi. Perchè? Chi ci sta rubando il tempo? Proprio ieri ho terminato di leggere un'albo della Bonelli Editore, il titolo è "La saggezza dei morti", il protagonista lo lascio indovinare a voi, beh per andare al nocciolo si parlava proprio di tempo, di tempo che si smarrisce nella smania di ambizioni fasulle e di obblighi che lo stile attuale di vita ci impone . Ci manca la libertà? Si è ridotto il tempo? Cosa sta succedendo?...

Mass-media: DVB-T in Österreich: mehr Zeit für Analog-Abschaltung

30.01.2007, 11:48 (GMT 1) Geplant war, bis 11. Juni 2007 die analogen Frequenzen in Österreich abzuschalten. Nach neuestem Stand wird dies wahrscheinlich nun bis in den Herbst dieses Jahres dauern. Der Start der Abschaltungen solle allerdings unverändert bleiben: am 05. März 2007 in Bregenz. Alle anderen Termine verschieben sich aber zeitlich nach hinten. Man wolle lt. ORF nach den ersten DVB-T-Umstellungen erst Erfahrungen sammeln, die bei den nachfolgenden Abschaltungen umgesetzt werden sollen. In Zusammenhang damit steht auch die Ausstrahlung weiterer Programme via DVB-T, denn die zusätzlichen Frequenzen dafür werden erst mit der Analog-Abschaltung frei.
